Introduction
The 20th Century has been the century of technological revolution, and so also the Century of
Nuclear Power. At one side, Nuclear Power has given us the possibility to use a new, environmentally
more friendly, energy source, but at the other side one can't deny the disadvantages and dangers of
Nuclear Power, and especially the enormous power and danger of nuclear bombs, which were part of a bad
chapter of Man's history. We all must see that Nuclear Power, as well as energy but also as weapon were
and are still part of our world. There are many people concerned with it, and its abuse hurts many
people's feelings; an example that shows that many people care of Nuclear Power, and especially of
Nuclear tests, were the worldwide protests against French Nuclear Tests last year, but also the protests
against those nations that still go on with bombing, like China for example.
But today this problem is still discussed in worldwide policy: the nuclear test ban treaty is near
to its end, nuclear disarmament is claimed and most people hope for a world without nuclear bombs.
As this subject of Nuclear Power, Nuclear Bombs and Nuclear Tests is that closely combined with
actuality, we chose it for this WEB publishing competition.
At this site, you can find information on nuclear power in general, on nuclear bombs and its history
of development, the development of the first nuclear bomb (Manhattan-project) and its tragical
consequences: The Bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki, which we document with many explanations and pictures.
